Elias Achouri: Tunisia winger at Copenhagen linked with MLS move to San Diego

Tunisia international Elias Achouri, who plays for Danish champions Copenhagen, is the subject of interest from MLS expansion side San Diego over a potential transfer. The 27-year-old left winger, who represents Tunisia and also holds French nationality, is being monitored as San Diego look to add top-flight European experience to their inaugural squad.

Achouri is under contract at Copenhagen until 30 June 2028, meaning any deal is expected to require a significant fee, with his current valuation around 3m. Copenhagen paid approximately that amount to sign him from Viborg FF in July 2023 after a standout spell in the Danish Superliga.

Since moving to the capital, Achouri has become a regular in Denmarks top flight, making 63 Superliga appearances for Copenhagen, scoring 11 goals and providing 15 assists. His form helped the club secure a league and cup double in the 2024-25 season, underlining his importance in attack from the left flank.

The winger has also featured on the European stage, appearing in the UEFA Champions League group and qualifying phases for Copenhagen, as well as in the Conference League. His exposure to continental competition is understood to be part of the appeal for San Diego as they assemble a competitive squad for Major League Soccer.

Achouri featured for Tunisia at the 2026 World Cup, making three appearances at the tournament. For now, he remains a Copenhagen player with two years left on his deal, leaving the Danish side in a strong position should formal talks with San Diego progress.
