Eliaquim Mangala’s much-anticipated move to Manchester City is now official! After months of speculation, the FC Porto defender has signed with the reigning English champions. According to L’Équipe and British sources, Mangala underwent his medical on Friday and sealed the deal on Saturday.
The transfer fee is reported to be around €40 million—a hefty investment by City. On top of that, Mangala’s salary will reportedly soar to about €5 million per year, which is five times what he earned at Porto.
Mangala, who was part of the French squad at the World Cup in Brazil, is expected to strengthen City’s defense considerably as they aim to retain their Premier League crown.
