El Sharqia-ENPPI claim first league win with victory over ZED

El Sharqia-ENPPI secured their first win of the Egyptian league season by beating ZED 2-1 in the fourth round of the competition.

Captain Mahmoud Abdel Moneim “Kahraba” opened the scoring for El Sharqia-ENPPI from the penalty spot in the 33rd minute, giving his side the lead for the first time in the match.

The goal took Kahraba’s tally for the season to two, making him El Sharqia-ENPPI’s leading scorer so far this campaign.

El Sharqia-ENPPI doubled their advantage shortly before half-time when Ahmed Khalil Kalousha headed home in the 42nd minute. The defender met a corner delivered by Ziad Kamal and directed a well-placed header into the net.

That goal ensured El Sharqia-ENPPI went into the interval with a 2-0 lead and in control of the match.

ZED responded early in the second half, reducing the deficit through Wagdy Nabhan in the 56th minute.

The Palestinian player received the ball inside the penalty area after Ahmed Atef produced a backheel pass. Nabhan then finished into the net to give ZED hope of recovering a point.

However, El Sharqia-ENPPI held on to complete their first league victory of the season. The result moves them up to 14th place with four points from their opening four matches.

ZED also have four points, but they drop to 15th because El Sharqia-ENPPI have the better goal difference.

The result gives El Sharqia-ENPPI their first success in the competition this season after the opening three rounds had left them without a win. Kahraba’s penalty provided the decisive breakthrough, while Kalousha’s first-half header established the advantage that ultimately proved enough.

ZED’s second-half response produced a tense finish, with Nabhan’s goal cutting the gap to one, but they were unable to find an equaliser before the final whistle.

Both sides therefore remain level on points in the league standings, with the outcome determined by their differing goal records. El Sharqia-ENPPI’s victory also lifts them above ZED in the table after four rounds, while Kahraba remains the club’s leading scorer with two goals this season.
