El Shahat contract talks: Al Ahly star seeks major pay rise amid renewal uncertainty
Al Ahly winger Hussein El Shahat is reportedly seeking a significant financial upgrade to extend his stay with the Egyptian giants, with discussions over a new contract beginning to take shape ahead of the expiry of his current deal.
According to a source familiar with the negotiations, the player is targeting a package in excess of 35 million Egyptian pounds per season as a key condition for committing his future to the Red Castle.
El Shahat’s current contract is set to run out at the end of the season, a situation that allows him to engage in discussions with other clubs as interest grows from both domestic rivals and foreign sides.
Club officials are, however, keen to resolve the matter early to avoid uncertainty around one of their senior players.
The winger is understood to place strong emphasis on financial terms, particularly in light of external interest he has attracted in recent months. His representatives are expected to leverage those options as talks progress.
A central figure in Al Ahly’s recent dominance, El Shahat has played a decisive role in multiple domestic and continental triumphs, cementing his status as one of the squad’s most influential performers.
Further negotiations between the club and the player’s camp are anticipated in the coming weeks, with both sides aiming to reach either an agreement that secures his continued stay or a compromise that satisfies all parties involved.
