El Mehdi Maouhoub: Morocco and Dynamo Moscow striker linked with Al-Arabi SC move
Moroccan centre-forward El Mehdi Maouhoub of Dynamo Moscow is being linked with a move to Qatari Stars League side Al-Arabi SC as the Gulf club explores options to strengthen its attack.
Maouhoub, 23, is under contract with Dynamo until 30 June 2029, meaning any deal would require the Russian Premier Liga club to be persuaded to sell. The Casablanca-born striker, who wears the No 49 shirt, has yet to feature in the 2026–27 league campaign, with no appearances recorded in Dynamo’s opening fixture, a situation that could encourage interest from abroad.
Dynamo signed Maouhoub from Raja Casablanca on 23 August 2024 in a transfer worth €1.7 million, having seen his value rise through successive moves in Moroccan football. His current valuation is listed at €1 million, indicating that any bid from Al-Arabi is likely to be framed around that figure as initial talks and internal assessments take place.
Maouhoub arrives on the radar in Qatar after a successful 2023–24 season in Morocco, where he won both the league title and the domestic cup with Raja. He also enhanced his reputation on the international stage by helping Morocco secure third place at the 2024 Olympic Games, scoring once during the tournament.
With four years remaining on his Dynamo deal and no formal agreement in place, Maouhoub’s situation remains one to watch as Al-Arabi gauge whether the Russian club is open to negotiations for the Moroccan forward.
