El Hadji Malick Diouf marks national team selection with stunning goal for Slavia Prague

Slavia Prague’s left-winger El Hadji Malick Diouf has emerged as a key target for several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, Liverpool, Brighton, and Crystal Palace.

The Czech side, currently atop the league standings, remains reluctant to let the Senegalese international leave this winter, but increasing interest from major English teams may force them to reconsider.

The 20-year-old, who has been in scintillating form this season with six goals and three assists in 18 league appearances, is under contract with Slavia until 2028.

Despite his long-term deal, the Czech champions are bracing for a significant transfer fee, reportedly seeking over €20 million, a figure that would make Diouf the most expensive player in the history of Czech football.

Crystal Palace Among Suitors

Crystal Palace is one of the clubs vying for Diouf’s signature, with the Eagles looking to bolster their left wing and add competition for Tyrick Mitchell.

Diouf, a product of Galaxy Foot Academy Dakar and Mawade Wade Academy of Saint-Louis, is also attracting interest from Brighton, Chelsea, and Liverpool.

While a move to England appears inevitable, the timing remains uncertain.

Slavia Prague has already turned down two offers from Crystal Palace, with bids of €15 million and €17 million deemed insufficient. Club president Jaroslav Tvrdík made the club’s stance clear in a recent interview:

“These are not the sums we want. After the departures of Antonín Kinský, Matej Jurásek, and Aiham Ousou, we have €25 million in transfer revenue, which is perhaps a record year in our history.

I don’t feel any pressure to sell anyone. At the same time, we don’t want to weaken the defense with Malick. So I hope he doesn’t leave. We have consciously set a high price for him,” Tvrdík explained.

Chelsea and Liverpool’s Interest

While Slavia is determined to retain Diouf until the summer, interest from Chelsea and Liverpool could change the narrative.

Both clubs have reportedly made inquiries, prompting Tvrdík to acknowledge the potential for negotiation if the right offer comes along:

“If Liverpool and Chelsea made an offer of around €17-18 million, also indicating that they were asking about him, then I would hesitate if I did not approach the issue differently from the point of view of promoting the club or the interest of the player,” he admitted.

Tvrdík also recognized the limitations of the Czech league: “If Chelsea come, we will not hold anyone back. Nothing will probably change, it is simply not objectively possible.

It must be admitted that the Czech Championship and Slavia have some barriers. We are part of a football chain, we are not at the top.”

Stay or Go?

While a mid-season move would bring financial rewards, some believe waiting until the summer could benefit both Diouf and Slavia Prague.

Staying would provide the young talent with more time to develop and enhance his value while strengthening the club’s title push.

“The important thing is that Malick does without the rumours and thinks better,” Tvrdík said. “It would be a win-win for everyone to be transferred this summer.

If he stays, we will improve his contract for the spring. To let him know that we appreciate him and that he is an asset to the club. I am just worried about the last day of the transfer window.”

As speculation swirls, the decision ultimately rests with Diouf. Whether he leaves this winter or stays to finish the season, the Senegalese star’s next step promises to be a pivotal moment in his career.
