Moroccan midfielder Oussama El Azzouzi returns to Bologna after Auxerre loan spell

Moroccan midfielder Oussama El Azzouzi has returned to Bologna following the conclusion of his season-long loan spell at French side Auxerre.

The Ligue 1 club officially confirmed the end of the agreement, bringing the 25-year-old’s time in France to a close ahead of the new campaign.

Loan Stay in France Comes to an End

El Azzouzi joined Auxerre in August 2025 on a temporary deal from Italian club Bologna as the French side sought to strengthen its midfield options for the 2025/26 season. The agreement was set to run until the end of the campaign, giving the Moroccan international an opportunity to gain regular playing time in Ligue 1.

During his spell with Auxerre, the midfielder made 11 league appearances and contributed one goal. His only strike for the club came in a 3-1 victory over FC Metz, where he played an important role in helping his side secure all three points.

Injuries Impact Playing Time

El Azzouzi’s season was affected by injury setbacks that limited his involvement for significant periods of the campaign. Despite those challenges, he successfully returned to action and featured in several of Auxerre’s closing matches as the club wrapped up its league season.

His performances provided defensive balance in midfield whenever available, although injuries prevented him from establishing a consistent run in the starting lineup.

With the loan agreement now expired, El Azzouzi heads back to Bologna, where he will assess his options ahead of the summer transfer window. The Moroccan midfielder could either remain with the Serie A side and compete for a place in the squad or explore opportunities elsewhere.
