Ekanga: Centre-forward linked with Portugal move to Sernache

Ekanga has completed a loan move from Estrela U23 to GD Vitória Sernache, joining the Campeonato de Portugal side from the Revelação U23 setup in a confirmed deal classified as a loan transfer. The centre-forward’s temporary switch from the Lisbon club is officially active from 2026-02-02, with the agreement set to run until 2026-06-30, after which he is scheduled to return to Estrela U23 at the end of the loan.

The transfer places the 22-year-old Cameroon striker directly into the CP – Série C competition, marking another step in his development within Portuguese football. Registered primarily as a centre-forward and preferring his right foot, Ekanga moves from youth and under-23 environments into a senior league setting with Sernache, while remaining under contract with Estrela’s U23 structure for the duration of the loan.

This latest move continues a sequence of loan spells that have characterised his early career in Portugal. Before joining Sernache, Ekanga had already been shuttled between Estrela U23 and Atlético CP, as well as Estrela U23 and CF Os Belenenses, on temporary deals. He first arrived in Portuguese football from Brasseries du Cameroun when he joined CF Estrela Amadora B, later stepping up to Estrela’s U23 squad in a standard transfer.

The loan to Sernache means the Yaoundé-born forward will again compete outside his home country, maintaining his status as a Cameroon player plying his trade abroad. With Sernache based in Portugal and active in the CP – Série C, he continues his progression in European football rather than returning to any domestic Cameroonian competition.

From a contractual perspective, the structure of the deal keeps Estrela U23 in control of his long‑term future, as he is already listed to go back to the club when the loan ends on 2026-06-30. There is no indication in the available data of any purchase option or permanent transfer clause tied to this move, nor is there any current contract expiry date at Estrela U23 shown, meaning there is no confirmed pathway here toward free agency based on the present information.

Although no market value is recorded for Ekanga in the data, his steady movement through Portuguese clubs, from Brasseries du Cameroun to Estrela B, on to Estrela U23 and via loans to Belenenses, Atlético CP and now Vitória Sernache, illustrates how he has been viewed as a developing attacking asset within the system. At 1.82m tall and operating through the middle, he will now be expected to adapt to the physical and tactical demands of CP – Série C.

The transfer history confirms that this latest switch to Sernache is a completed, active loan, not a rumour. With his return to Estrela U23 already scheduled for the conclusion of the agreement, the coming months in Sernache colours will be central to determining his standing within his parent club and shaping the next phase of his career in Portuguese football.
