Eintracht Frankfurt set for permanent Elye Wahi sale in summer

Eintracht Frankfurt is increasingly preparing for a future without Elye Wahi, with the club planning a permanent transfer in the upcoming summer window.

The Ivorian forward has rediscovered his form on loan at OGC Nice after a disappointing first half of the season in Frankfurt.

Wahi flourishing at Nice

Since his January move to the Côte d’Azur, Wahi has looked like a different player. In his first ten competitive matches for Nice, he has already recorded four goals and two assists, quickly becoming an important attacking option for the Ligue 1 side.

Frankfurt rules out new loan

Wahi’s strong spell has sparked interest at Nice, where officials are reportedly hoping for another loan year. However, Frankfurt has ruled that out and is instead targeting a permanent sale to secure much-needed transfer income. Because no purchase option was included in the loan deal, the final decision rests entirely with Eintracht.

World Cup as value booster

Sporting director Markus Krösche is also looking toward the 2026 World Cup as a possible boost to Wahi’s market value. The forward has switched his national team allegiance from France to Ivory Coast and could debut in a friendly against South Korea as early as Saturday.

If Wahi impresses at the tournament, where Ivory Coast will face Germany in the group stage, his price could rise significantly. Frankfurt hopes to turn the previous 26 million euro outlay to Olympique Marseille into a profitable deal, even if a transfer may only be completed in late July or August.
