Eintracht Frankfurt close in on Raphael Onyedika signing

Eintracht Frankfurt have taken a major step toward landing Raphael Onyedika, reaching a verbal agreement with the Nigerian midfielder over a long-term move to the club.

The 25-year-old is set to sign a contract running until 2031, underlining how strongly Eintracht believe in him as a pillar of their future midfield.

For now, the final hurdle is agreement with Club Brugge. Talks between the clubs are already underway, with Frankfurt currently offering a fee in the region of €8-10 million. Because Onyedika’s contract in Belgium expires next summer, Eintracht hope to secure him for a sum below his current estimated market value of €23 million, even if the negotiations are expected to be anything but straightforward.

Onyedika has long been regarded as Frankfurt’s preferred solution for the holding midfield role. The club studied a potential transfer both last summer and in the winter window, attracted by his defensive strength and calmness in possession. With Noel Aseko already signed as a dynamic box-to-box option, adding Onyedika would effectively complete Eintracht’s planned rebuild in the middle of the pitch, pairing a powerful, ball-winning six with an energetic eight. Until Brugge give the green light, though, the deal remains just out of reach.
