Egypt’s under-20 national team has officially commenced its training camp ahead of the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), set to take place in Ivory Coast from April 26 to May 18.

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) confirmed on Thursday, February 20, that the squad, led by head coach Oussama Nabih, has begun a structured training programme aimed at refining the team’s tactics and player development.

Egypt has been placed in Group B, where they will face South Africa, Morocco, and Nigeria—a challenging group given the pedigree of their opponents.

Egypt faces a formidable group

With the tournament drawing closer, the Young Pharaohs are intensifying preparations to ensure a strong performance on the continental stage.

Nigeria, Egypt’s group-stage opponent, stands as the most successful nation in U-20 AFCON history, having claimed the title seven times.

Meanwhile, Morocco and South Africa have also demonstrated strong youth football development in recent years, making Group B one of the most competitive in the tournament.

Despite the challenge, Egypt will be determined to leave a mark in the competition and improve upon past performances.

The training camp is expected to focus on tactical discipline, squad cohesion, and match fitness as the team builds towards the prestigious tournament.
