In a highly anticipated clash between Egypt’s U-20 national team and their Cameroonian counterparts, the latter emerged victorious with a scoreline of 4-2 in the first leg of the final qualifying round for the 2024 World Cup.

The upcoming 2024 World Cup is set to take place in Colombia, and this encounter marked a crucial step in determining which team would secure a spot in the prestigious tournament.

Nadia Ramadan and Jowi Emad scored the two goals for Egypt, while Mana Lamin (2), Sophie LeMana, and Mifa Kiki found the net for Cameroon.

Cameroon took the lead in the 14th minute through LeMana, capitalizing on an error from the Egyptian defense.

However, Nadia leveled the score in the 17th minute with a penalty kick.

Lamin regained the lead for Cameroon in the 30th minute, receiving a cross inside the penalty area and expertly slotting the ball past the goalkeeper.

Jowi Emad once again equalized for Egypt in the 32nd minute, converting a penalty with composure.

As the match progressed, Lamin struck again in the 78th minute, firing a powerful shot from within the penalty area to put Cameroon ahead.

In a late turn of events, Kiki crushed Egypt’s hopes with a strong header in the 93rd minute.

With this 4-2 defeat in the first leg, Egypt’s U-20 team faces an uphill battle in the upcoming second leg, scheduled to be played in Cameroon on January 21.

The intense competition sets the stage for an exciting return match, as both teams vie for a coveted spot in the 2024 World Cup in Colombia.

The football world eagerly awaits the outcome of this clash between the rising talents of Egypt and Cameroon.
