Egypt’s Mohamed Salah insists Liverpool ‘never give up’ after late winner at Burnley

Mohamed Salah underlined Liverpool’s resilience after firing home an injury-time penalty to secure a dramatic 1-0 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday.

The Egyptian forward, who has been central to Liverpool’s strong start to the campaign, kept his composure from the spot to send the Reds back to the top of the Premier League table.

The decisive moment arrived deep into stoppage time when Burnley midfielder Hannibal Mejbri was penalised for handling inside the box.

Salah stepped up with trademark calm to beat the goalkeeper and seal all three points for Jürgen Klopp’s side. The goal, his fourth of the season, highlighted his ability to deliver under pressure.

Speaking after the match, Salah admitted Burnley had made life difficult for Liverpool but praised the team’s perseverance.

“Tough opponent today, we tried our best to get the ball between the lines. It was tough but I am glad we managed it,” he said.

The 33-year-old also stressed the importance of helping new arrivals adapt to Liverpool’s demanding system.

“We have a few new players in the starting line up and it takes time to adapt to our game and we try our best to make them confident in our game,” Salah explained.

Liverpool dominated much of the possession but were frustrated by Burnley’s compact defensive structure until the late penalty provided a breakthrough.

The win extends the Reds’ unbeaten start to the campaign and ensures momentum remains with Klopp’s men as they seek to reclaim the Premier League crown.

Reflecting on the performance, Salah summed up Liverpool’s mentality in one line: “We don’t give up. We try and push ourselves to the limit and as a team we did that.”
