Egyptian Premier League club Ismaily Sporting Club have officially appointed Tunisian Aymen Habibi as the team’s new fitness coach, effective immediately.
Ismaily are currently fighting relegation as they are third from bottom on the league table.
The club’s board of directors finalized the agreement on Wednesday, integrating Habibi into the technical staff to enhance player performance in the upcoming phase.
Upon his arrival in Ismailia, Habibi commenced his duties without delay, demonstrating a strong commitment to elevating the team’s physical preparedness.
His extensive background includes a tenure with Espérance Sportive de Tunis’ U-19 team, followed by roles at Hammam-Lif and as the fitness coach for Libya’s U-20 national team.
Habibi’s career also encompasses positions as an assistant coach with Khaleej Sirte and Al-Ittihad Tripoli. Notably, he served with the Congo national team under French head coach Pierre Lechantre and collaborated with him at Simba SC in Tanzania.
His diverse experience extends to stints with Hafia FC in Guinea, Étoile du Sahel in Tunisia, and Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya in Iraq.
This strategic appointment aligns with Ismaily SC’s broader efforts to revitalize the club amid recent challenges. In August 2023, the club reinstated former Egypt national team coach Ehab Galal as head coach, aiming to steer the team back on course after a period of financial difficulties and underperformance. Galal’s return marked his second tenure with Ismaily, following a previous stint in 2021.
The integration of Aymen Habibi into the coaching staff is anticipated to bolster the team’s physical capabilities, complementing the tactical direction established by head coach Ehab Galal.
