Highly rated Egyptian youngster Hamza Abdelkarim is on the brink of completing a move to Barcelona after the Spanish giants reached an agreement with Al Ahly, Africasoccer can report.
The 18-year-old striker is scheduled to undergo his medical examinations on Saturday, January 31, marking a key step toward finalising the transfer. The deal will see Abdelkarim initially join the Catalan club on loan, with an option to buy included in the agreement.
For the time being, Abdelkarim is expected to link up with Barca Athletic, where he will continue his development within Barcelona’s renowned youth structure before pushing for higher-level opportunities.
The teenager has been one of the brightest prospects in Egyptian youth football, producing impressive numbers for the national under-17 team. He scored 12 goals and registered six assists in 19 appearances, performances that have drawn attention beyond Egypt’s borders.
If completed, the move would represent a significant milestone in Abdelkarim’s young career and another example of African talent making its way to one of Europe’s elite clubs.
