Iraqi club Al-Karma has confirmed the signing of former Al-Ahly forward Ahmed Abdel Qader in a deal that will keep him at the club for a season and a half.
Al-Karma shared an image of Abdel Qader in the team’s jersey on social media, captioning it: “From the Club of the Century to the Falcons of the West… Egyptian Ahmed Abdel Qader joins Al-Karma Club on a season-and-a-half contract.”
Abdel Qader officially announced his departure from Al-Ahly earlier today, ending a five-season spell with the Egyptian giants.
In a farewell message on Instagram, he wrote: “In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, today my journey with Al Ahly Club comes to an end after more than five years filled with memories and events. Thank you to the great Al Ahly Club, its president, players, and board of directors. Thank you to all Al Ahly fans.”
The transfer will see Al-Ahly receive $200,000 upfront, with potential bonuses of up to $50,000. The deal also includes a 25 percent sell-on clause should Abdel Qader move to another club in the future.
Under the terms of the agreement, Al-Karma must notify Al-Ahly if they plan to sell the player to another Egyptian team.
Abdel Qader’s move comes after a limited role this season, featuring for just 190 minutes across 10 matches without scoring or assisting.
Over his tenure at Al-Ahly, he made 123 appearances, netting 20 goals and contributing 12 assists.
