Egyptian side Telecom SC appoint Nigeria’s Aliyu Zubairu as new head coach
Egyptian second division side Telecom SC have named Nigerian tactician Aliyu Zubairu as their new head coach on a two-year contract.
Zubairu, who was officially unveiled by the club on Sunday, brings a wealth of experience to the Egyptian outfit. He recently led Nigeria’s U-20 national team, the Flying Eagles, to the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations and the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Under his guidance, the Flying Eagles finished third in the continental tournament and reached the Round of 16 at the global showpiece.
The former El-Kanemi Warriors boss rose to prominence after steering the club to victory in the 2024 President Federation Cup. Over the years, he has also managed Wikki Tourists, Gombe United, and Akwa United in the Nigerian Professional Football League.
Renowned for his tactical intelligence and emphasis on youth development, Zubairu is widely respected for his balanced focus on both the psychological and physical aspects of the game.
At Telecom SC, his main mandate will be to guide the team to promotion to the Egyptian Premier League.
