Egyptian referees Shahenda El Maghrabi and Yara Atef appointed for Ghana-Cameroon Women’s Africa Cup of Nations match

Egyptian officials Shahenda El Maghrabi and Yara Atef have been appointed to referee Ghana’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations meeting with Cameroon.

El Maghrabi will take charge of the Group D match, with Atef named as the second assistant referee. The appointment was confirmed by the Egyptian Football Association after a decision by the Confederation of African Football’s refereeing committee.

The fixture is scheduled for Sunday, 2 August, at Moulay Rachid Stadium, with kick-off at 20:00 Cairo time.

The full officiating team will be led by El Maghrabi as referee. Asmaa Ferial has been appointed first assistant referee, while Atef will serve as second assistant. Zulekha Herams is the fourth official.

Lahlo Ben Brahim will operate as the video assistant referee, with Dorsaf Ganouati appointed as the assistant video assistant referee.

Both Ghana and Cameroon sit at the top of Group D after winning their opening matches of the tournament.

Ghana began their campaign with a 2-0 victory over Cape Verde, while Cameroon defeated Mali 2-1. Their meeting therefore represents the second round of matches in the group.

Morocco is hosting the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, which is being played from 26 July to 16 August. The tournament features the continent’s leading women’s national teams, with the group-stage schedule continuing at Moulay Rachid Stadium on Sunday.

The appointment gives Egyptian officials a central role in one of Group D’s key fixtures. El Maghrabi will be responsible for the on-field decisions, supported by a team that includes fellow Egyptian official Atef and the video officials assigned to review incidents during the match.

Ghana’s two-goal win over Cape Verde and Cameroon’s victory against Mali mean both sides enter the game with three points. The result will affect the early shape of a group in which the two teams have made winning starts.

Kick-off in Casablanca is set for 20:00 in Cairo.
