A special tribute was paid to the distinguished Egyptian referee Amin Omar during the closing ceremony of the Academies World Cup, following his remarkable performance at the recent Africa Cup of Nations tournament held in Ivory Coast.
The final of the Academies World Cup took place two days ago at the Officers’ Club in Cairo, with the participation of academies representing clubs and private academies competing across six age categories from 2015 to 2010 birth years.
The World Cup activities lasted for an entire month, showcasing a group of prominent talents who are expected to have significant opportunities to join major clubs in the near future.
Tarek Kamal, President of the Sports Activities Company organizing the event, emphasized that the final day witnessed a strong presence from participating teams, parents of the players, and a large number of dignitaries.
Among them were Dr. Sahar Abdel Haq, member of the Women’s Committee at the Olympic Committee and former board member of the Football Association, Hussein Al-Attfi, former Minister of Sports and Water Resources, Tarek El-Mahdy, former Governor of Alexandria, and Dr. Moshira Abu Ghali, President of the Arab Youth Council affiliated with the Arab League.
The closing ceremony was also attended by several Egyptian football stars such as Tamer Bashatou, Amir Aabid, Mohamed Antar, and Mohamed Salem.
