Egyptian Professional Clubs Association announces disciplinary action after fifth-round matches

The Egyptian Professional Clubs Association has issued a series of sanctions following the fifth-round fixtures in the first stage of the league.

Pyramids lead the table with 15 points, three points clear of Zamalek and Al Ahly, who occupy second and third place respectively on 13 points.

The league is now paused for the international break, during which Egypt will play three matches against Angola, South Sudan and South Africa.

Ghazl El Mahalla v Zamalek

Ghazl El Mahalla have been fined 100,000 Egyptian pounds after their supporters collectively abused the referee during the match against Zamalek.

The club have also been given a warning and another 100,000 Egyptian pounds fine after fans threw stones and water bottles on to the pitch at the second assistant referee.

Ghazl El Mahalla assistant manager Wael Abdel-Rahim has been suspended for one match and fined 10,000 Egyptian pounds following his dismissal in the game.

Al Masry v Al Ittihad

Al Masry assistant manager Hossam Abdel-Aal has been suspended for one match and fined 10,000 Egyptian pounds after being sent off during the match against Al Ittihad.

He has also been issued with a warning and given a further 30,000 Egyptian pounds fine for attempting to become involved in a physical altercation with Al Ittihad administrator El-Sayed Abdel-Karim.

Abdel-Karim has likewise been suspended for one match and fined 10,000 Egyptian pounds for his dismissal.

He has additionally received a warning and a separate 30,000 Egyptian pounds fine for attempting to engage in a physical altercation with Abdel-Aal.

ZED v El Qanah

ZED manager Mohamed Shawky has been suspended for one match and fined 5,000 Egyptian pounds after being sent off for receiving two yellow cards in the fixture against El Qanah.

Tala’ea El Gaish v Smouha

Tala’ea El Gaish player Yehia Mostafa has been suspended for one match and fined 2,500 Egyptian pounds after being dismissed for receiving two yellow cards in the same match.

Smouha player Amr Emad has also been suspended for one match, with a 5,000 Egyptian pounds fine imposed after he received his third yellow card.

This season’s league features 20 teams and is being played over a single round.

The top six sides will advance to the championship group, where they will compete for the title and places qualifying for African competitions.

The remaining 14 teams will contest the relegation group in an effort to avoid relegation.
