Al Ahly coach Jess Thorup has given his players a rest day on Thursday following their 2-0 win over Ismaily.
The victory, secured at Borg El Arab Stadium, came in the postponed fourteenth-round match of the Egyptian Premier League.
Al Ahly’s next challenge is a crucial African Champions League clash against the Royal Army team on Sunday at 6 pm, in the sixth round of the group stage.
Wednesday’s win marked a return to form for Al Ahly, who opened the scoring in the 31st minute through Tunisian forward Mohamed Ali Ben Ramadan.
The Red Devils doubled their lead before halftime, as Ashraf Bencharki delivered a precise cross that Yassin Marei struck powerfully, deflecting off an Ismaily defender and into the net in the 43rd minute.
The result earned Al Ahly three points, moving them to 30 and keeping them in third place as they continue to chase the league leaders.
Ismaily, meanwhile, remain at the bottom of the table with 10 points, in 21st place.
