Al Ahly and Zamalek both recorded important victories in the Egyptian Premier League on Wednesday as three rescheduled Matchday 14 fixtures were completed.
Al Ahly secured a commanding win over Ismaily, Zamalek edged past Smouha, while Al-Masry and Wadi Degla shared the points in a 1-1 draw.
Al Ahly overpower Ismaily
Al Ahly asserted control early and made their dominance count in the 30th minute when Tunisian midfielder Mohamed Ali Ben Ramadan struck from close range after reacting quickest to a loose ball inside the Ismaily penalty area.
The Cairo side extended their advantage 12 minutes later.
Yassin Mar’i doubled the lead in the 42nd minute with a precise effort from the right, ensuring the hosts went into the break with a comfortable 2-0 cushion.
After the restart, Ismaily attempted to shift momentum and pushed forward in search of a way back into the contest.
However, Al Ahly’s defence remained compact and well organised, limiting opportunities while regaining control in midfield.
A series of substitutions around the 69th minute — including Yusuf Belamri, Mohamed Sherif and Marwan Atiya — added fresh impetus, before Karim Fouad was introduced four minutes later to help manage the tempo.
Al Ahly saw out the match without further trouble to move onto 30 points, while Ismaily remain bottom of the table with 10.
Zamalek leave it late against Smouha
Zamalek began brightly against Smouha, applying sustained pressure in the opening stages.
Despite several chances at both ends, neither side found a breakthrough before half-time.
The decisive moment arrived in the 77th minute when Nasser Monsi converted from a Juan Bezera assist to score the only goal of the game.
Smouha responded with urgency, particularly during five minutes of added time, but Zamalek’s defence held firm.
The victory keeps Zamalek second in the standings on 31 points, while Smouha remain sixth with 25.
Points shared in Port Said
In the day’s other fixture, Al-Masry and Wadi Degla played out a competitive draw.
After a tightly contested first half, Al-Masry took the lead three minutes after the interval through Omar El Saaiy.
Wadi Degla were awarded a penalty midway through the second period, and Danijel Miškić converted in the 68th minute to level the score.
Neither side was able to find a winner, leaving Al-Masry fifth on 25 points and Wadi Degla eighth with 24.
