Abu Qir Fertilizers part ways with coach Magdy Abdel-Aaty

Egyptian club Abu Qir Fertilizers have parted ways with head coach Magdy Abdel-Aaty following a disappointing start to the 2026/27 campaign, making him the fourth managerial casualty in the Egyptian Premier League this season.

The decision to sever ties follows the club’s unimpressive start to the campaign. After six matches into the season, Abu Qir Fertilizers find themselves closer to the bottom of the league standings.

In a statement sighted by Africasoccer.com, the board of directors, headed by engineer Hani Dahy, expressed its gratitude to Abdel-Aaty and his assistants for their efforts with the first team during their time at the club.

The club have endured a difficult start to the season, collecting just three points from their opening six matches. They have managed only one victory while suffering five defeats, leaving them 18th in the league standings and under increasing pressure to improve their performances.

The disappointing run of results has raised concerns about the team’s competitiveness, with the club’s leadership now expected to consider the next steps in an effort to revive their campaign.

Abdel-Aaty’s departure adds to the growing list of managerial changes in Egyptian football this season, with clubs already showing little patience amid the pressure to secure positive results.

Emad El Nahhas was previously dismissed from his position at Al Masry, while Mohamed El Sheikh departed Wadi Degla and Ahmed Khattab was relieved of his duties at Ghazl El Mahalla.

Abu Qir Fertilizers’ decision to part ways with Abdel-Aaty brings the number of coaching departures in the Egyptian Premier League to four during the 2026/27 campaign.

The club will now need to identify a successor capable of stabilising the team, restoring confidence within the squad and improving results as the season progresses.

With the campaign still in its early stages, Abu Qir Fertilizers will hope a change in the technical area can provide the necessary spark to revive their fortunes. Their immediate challenge, however, will be to address the poor run of results and climb away from the bottom of the standings.
