Amid growing talk surrounding changes to Egypt’s Sports Law No. 71 of 2017, the Egyptian Olympic Committee (EOC) has stepped in to clear the air.
In a firm statement, the EOC, led by Yasser Idris, rejected claims of any conflict regarding the amendment process of the law.
The Committee highlighted its ongoing cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, under Minister Ashraf Sobhi, stressing their shared goal of promoting Egyptian sport and pushing for further progress. The EOC made it clear that their relationship with the ministry remains strong and focused on common objectives.
The statement assured the public that any updates regarding the sports law amendments will be shared through the committee’s official platforms. It also clarified that Yasser Idris, as the committee’s spokesperson, has not made any comments about the proposed legal changes.
Finally, the EOC confirmed that the review of the law is moving forward steadily and will be referred to the International Olympic Committee after national authorities complete their work, in line with existing agreements.
