Egyptian goalkeeper Mohammed El Shenawy has committed his future to giants Al Ahly after signing a new deal with the club.
El Shenawy, whose previous contract was due to expire this summer, will now remain at the Egyptian powerhouse until 2027.
The extension come as a big relief for the Egyptian giants as the team gear up for the expanded FIFA Club World Cup to be staged in the United State of America next month.
Al Ahly are one of the four clubs expected to represent Africa at the revived Club World Cup tournament.
El Shenawy has been a stalwart for Al Ahly since joining the club in 2016. Despite his age, he has shown no signs of slowing down.
His exceptional performances, especially in the CAF Champions League, underline his importance to the team.
Throughout his career with Al Ahly, El Shenawy has played 325 matches across all competitions, conceding 205 goals while keeping an impressive 179 clean sheets.
This season, El Shenawy has made 28 appearances across competitions for Al Ahly, keeping 13 clean sheets and conceding 20 goals.
