Egyptian powerhouse Zamalek have pulled out of the race to sign Tanzanian sensation Clément Mzize this summer.
The 21-year-old talented attacker, who plies his trade for Young Africans has become a subject of interest for several following an outstanding campaign. Netting four goals in five matches in the CAF Champions League, a chunk of clubs view him as future prospect, including Zamalek.
Despite earlier talks, Zamalek have reportedly pulled the brakes on their pursuit of Tanzanian sensation this window.
The Egyptian giants had initiated direct discussions with Mzize, who was said to be open to a move pending a final agreement between the two clubs. But two major stumbling blocks have put the deal on hold.
Young Africans are believed to have demanded around $2 million for the 21-year-old striker — a figure that Zamalek’s board considers excessive given their current financial strategy.
The negotiations were further complicated by the involvement of multiple agents, which created disagreements and delays over contractual and commission-related terms.
In the just ended campaign, Clément Mzize made 24 appearances across competitions, scoring 7 goals.
Despite the breakdown in talks with Zamalek, Mzize remains a hot commodity, with Al-Ahly Tripoli (Libya) and JS Kabylie (Algeria) are closely monitoring his situation and could swoop in this summer.
As they restructure their team for the 2024–25 season, Zamalek seems to have turned their attention to other attacking targets for the time being, particularly in light of recent domestic defeats.
