Al Ahly have confirmed the signing of Portuguese striker of Angolan descent Yelsin Camões from Norwegian side Tromsø IL on a loan deal that includes an option to buy at the end of the 2025–26 season.
The 26-year-old forward joins the Egyptian giants as they look to reinforce their attacking options, with the agreement running until the conclusion of next season.
The Cairo-based club announced the move as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the squad across domestic and continental competitions.
Camões arrives from Tromsø IL, who compete in the Eliteserien, Norway’s top division. While his current campaign has been limited so far, with just one appearance and no goals this season, his overall record in Norway highlights a player who has previously delivered consistently in front of goal.
During the 2024 season, Camões was a regular presence for Tromsø, featuring in 29 matches across all competitions.
He scored 17 goals and provided seven assists, underlining his importance to the team’s attacking output. In the Eliteserien alone, he found the net 13 times, finishing the campaign as the league’s sixth-highest goalscorer.
Those performances appear to have convinced Al Ahly to move for the striker despite his slow start to the current season.
The inclusion of an option to buy in the loan agreement points to a longer-term evaluation, with the Egyptian club expected to assess his adaptation and impact before deciding on a permanent transfer.
For Camões, the move represents a significant change in environment. Having played his recent football in Scandinavia, he is now set to experience a new league, a different footballing culture and increased expectations at one of Africa’s most decorated clubs.
Al Ahly are currently third in the Egyptian Premier League and remain contenders across multiple competitions, placing immediate demands on new arrivals.
