Al Ahly step up preparation for Abu Qir Fertilizers clash

Al Ahly continued their preparations for their upcoming Egyptian Premier League encounter against Abu Qir Fertilizers with a group training session on Sunday evening at the Mokhtar El Tetsh Stadium in Gezira.

The Red Giants are scheduled to face Abu Qir Fertilizers at 8:00pm on Tuesday, with the match forming part of the fifth round of the Egyptian Premier League.

Head coach Hussein Ammouta began the session with a short team meeting, addressing the players before they moved onto the training pitch to begin preparations for the important league fixture.

The players started the session with a series of physical exercises based on the programme prepared by the technical staff, with the coaching team focusing on improving the squad’s physical readiness ahead of Tuesday’s game.

The goalkeepers also underwent a demanding specialised training programme as they worked on their reflexes, positioning and other aspects of their game.

The session later shifted towards tactical work, with the technical staff putting the players through specialised exercises designed to prepare them for the challenges expected against Abu Qir Fertilizers.

The training concluded with a competitive football scrimmage, allowing the coaching staff to assess the players and work on different tactical situations ahead of the league encounter.

Meanwhile, Al Ahly duo Yasser Ibrahim and Ahmed Nabil Kouka continued their respective physical therapy and rehabilitation programmes on the sidelines as they recover from their injuries.

Their absence remains an important consideration for the technical staff as the team prepares for another league fixture.

Al Ahly will be looking to return to winning ways against Abu Qir Fertilizers after being held to a 1-1 draw by Al Mokawloon Al Arab in their previous league outing.

The draw came last Wednesday in the fourth round of the Egyptian Premier League and left the Egyptian giants eager to collect maximum points in their next fixture.

With Tuesday’s match approaching, Ammouta and his technical team will be hoping the squad can translate their work on the training ground into a strong performance and secure an important victory.

The encounter will also provide Al Ahly with an opportunity to build momentum in the early stages of the league campaign as they continue their pursuit of another successful domestic season.
