Al Ahly have swiftly dispel rumours linking former Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez to the club following Jose Riveiro departure.

The Egyptian giants is currently without a club following the sacking of Spanish gaffer Jose Riveiro after a string of unimpressive results this season.

Riveiro leaves Al Ahly after just four month spell at the club. His sacking stem from the club’s 2-0 home defeat to reigning CAF Champions League holders, Pyramids FC on Saturday at Cairo International Stadium.

Earlier reports suggested Al Ahly have contacted the former Al Sadd and Barcelona tactician for the vacant coaching job, but the club has swiftly denied such report.

Currently, Al Ahly have not contacted any coach for the job including the former Spanish international.

Meanwhile, the leadership of the African giants will hold a meeting in the coming days to review several CVs to determine the identity of the new foreign coach.

Ribeiro, who arrived after ending his spell with Orlando Pirates failed to achieve good results during his stint short stint with Al Ahly. He was in charge when Al Ahly suffered group stage elimination from the FIFA Club World Cup in June.

Al Ahly are currently ranked 12th in the Egyptian Premier League this season, prompting the sacking of Riveiro.
