Egyptian giants Al Ahly bid $1 million to sign Ivorian striker Ibrahim Diabate

African football giants Al Ahly SC have officially launched a bid worth USD 1 million to sign prolific Ivorian striker Ibrahim Diabate from Swedish top-flight club GAIS.

The move is part of efforts by the Cairo-based club to reinforce their attacking lineup for the 2025/26 football season and beyond.

Diabate, 25, has experienced a breakout campaign in Sweden, becoming one of the most talked-about forwards in the league.

The former ASEC Mimosas star has netted an impressive 15 goals and recorded 4 assists in just 26 appearances, drawing attention from several top clubs across Europe and Africa.

His pace, physical presence and clinical finishing have made him a priority target for Al Ahly, who are looking to add more firepower as they compete on multiple fronts, including the CAF Champions League and Egyptian Premier League.

However, GAIS are reluctant to lose their star striker midway through his peak form and have reportedly placed a USD 1.5 million price tag on the player.

While Al Ahly’s initial bid falls short of that valuation, negotiations are expected to continue, with insiders suggesting that the Egyptian club are prepared to increase their offer to meet the Swedish club’s demands.

A move to Al Ahly would offer the striker the opportunity to compete at the highest level of African football and put himself in contention for national team recognition with the Ivory Coast.
