Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush ruled out of Manchester derby due to injury
Egyptian international Omar Marmoush will not be available when Manchester City takes on Manchester United in a high-stake clash on Sunday.
Marmoush, who joined Manchester City last January suffered a knee injury while in action for Egypt in their 2026 World Cup qualifying game against Burkina Faso.
The former Frankfurt attacker was forced off the field after just 10 minutes as both teams played out a pulsating goalless draw on Tuesday. He replaced by enterprising young forward Osama Faisal.
However, Marmoush has been ruled out of his outfits’ crunch game against Manchester United this weekend due to injury. He is expected to return to Manchester for more assessment before he begin his rehabilitation.
This come as a huge blow for Manchester City, following an unimpressive start to the Premier League campaign. The Citizens has won just a game and succumbed to two defeats after three matches into the season.
Egypt currently sit top of Group A after eight matches into the qualification series, accumulating 20 points.
The Pharaohs return to action on October for the remaining two matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
