Egyptian football federation announces reward for national team after AFCON qualification
The Egyptian Football Federation has announced a special reward for the national team players following their successful qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The announcement comes after the Pharaohs secured a dominant performance during the qualifiers, finishing at the top of their group.
Mohamed Abu Al-Wafa, a member of the Egyptian Football Federation’s board and the head of the national team delegation in Mauritania, shared details of the decision.
He stated that the federation had committed to rewarding the players for their achievement, which was sealed after a recent win against Mauritania.
Speaking on a televised program, Abu Al-Wafa said, “I had promised the players of the Egyptian national team a significant reward after qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
We intended to disburse it immediately following the victory over Mauritania, but there were specific procedures that needed to be followed first to ensure the payment process was legitimate.
The reward will be distributed within the coming hours.”
This gesture underscores the federation’s support for the team as they prepare for the continental tournament, where they will look to add another title to their rich history in African football.
Abu Al-Wafa also addressed rumors concerning team management, clarifying that the federation had not interfered with the technical staff’s decisions, including the choice to rest star player Mohamed Salah during the final qualifier against Mauritania.
“The board did not intervene in the decisions made by the coaching staff, led by Hossam Hassan,” he emphasized.
Egypt’s qualification campaign was marked by impressive performances, as the team won all four of their group stage matches.
The Pharaohs secured victories against Cape Verde, Botswana, and Mauritania, both at home and away, ensuring they reached the maximum points available.
Their unbeaten run solidified their place at the top of Group 12, confirming their spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals.
The news of the reward has been well-received by fans and players alike, adding to the celebratory mood surrounding the team’s recent success.
Egypt, known for its illustrious history in the competition, will be looking to make a strong showing at the tournament, with hopes of lifting the coveted trophy once again
