Egyptian football celebrities showcase elegance in "Police Uniform" on police day

As Egyptians prepare to celebrate Police Day tomorrow, commemorating the heroic achievements of the Egyptian police force, football stars reminisce about the glorious feats of law enforcement both domestically and abroad.

Among these iconic figures are football legends who not only dazzled on the pitch but seamlessly transitioned into executive roles, climbing the ranks within the Ministry of Interior.

Here, we highlight eight luminaries who have successfully balanced their sportsmanship with high-ranking administrative duties.

 1. Ahmed Soliman
Ahmed Soliman, a board member of Zamalek and the national team’s goalkeeping coach during its golden era, played a pivotal role in securing three Africa Cup of Nations titles in 2006, 2008, and 2010.

Presently, he holds the rank of Major General.

 2. Ibrahim Youssef
Ibrahim Youssef, a former star of Zamalek, transitioned to a board member role in the club before his departure.

His legacy extends to executive positions within the Ministry of Interior, showcasing his enduring commitment to both football and law enforcement.

 3. Fawzi Scotti
Fawzi Scotti, a former Ismaily star, seamlessly transitioned from sports to executive roles in the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Serving as a police colonel, he supervised football matters at the Police Union Club.

 4. Ali Gheit
Ali Gheit, a prominent police officer and influential figure in the football scene, notably coached the Interior Club and Police Union Club, guiding them from the second division to higher tiers.

His dual roles as a coach and a police officer within the Police Academy solidified his leadership status.

 5. Adel Abdelwahab
Adel Abdelwahab, a star of the 80s at Zamalek, served as an officer in the Ministry of Interior, earning the rank of Major General.

His remarkable goal against Ismaily secured the Egyptian Premier League title for Zamalek.

 6. Ayman Taher
Ayman Taher, a former national team goalkeeper and key player for Zamalek, joined the elite list of those representing Egypt at the 1990 World Cup in Italy.

Post-football, he assumed an officer’s role in the Ministry of Interior.

 7. Amer Abdelmaksoud
Amer Abdelmaksoud, a star of Tersana Club in the 80s, contributed to the club’s victory in the 1983 Egypt Cup.

He later represented Egypt in the 1987 Africa Cup of Nations.

Tragically, Abdelmaksoud fell victim to terrorism in Kerdasa in 1993.

These remarkable individuals stand as living testaments to the synergy between football prowess and dedication to maintaining law and order within the ranks of Egypt’s esteemed Ministry of Interior.
