The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has tasked its legal affairs committee with reviewing all clauses of the contract with Portuguese coach Rui Vitoria, the head coach of the national team.
This move comes in the wake of the team’s premature exit from the Africa Cup of Nations.
The EFA board is set to convene an essential meeting in the coming hours, following the return of the trio—Jamel Allam, Khaled Darendel, and Hazem Emam—from Ivory Coast.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the fate of Rui Vitoria, the head coach of the national team, following their elimination from the Round of 16 in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Egypt, under the leadership of Rui Vitoria, bid farewell to the Africa Cup of Nations after losing in a penalty shootout against the Democratic Republic of Congo in the knockout stage.
The Egyptian Football Association reserves the right to terminate the contract with Vitoria within a period not exceeding 15 days from Egypt’s exit from the Africa Cup of Nations.
This termination would come at the cost of a penalty equivalent to three months’ salary for the Portuguese coach.
Consequently, if Vitoria opts to terminate the contract at this time, following Egypt’s early departure from the tournament in Ivory Coast, he would be entitled to approximately 600,000 euros.
In the event that the contract is not terminated within the specified 15-day period, according to the contract terms, Vitoria would be entitled to the full value of his contract if he is dismissed after the designated period.
