The Egyptian Football Association is turning memories into something lasting by announcing the creation of a museum that will honor the players who shaped the nation’s football history.
The project, led by president Hany Abo Rida, aims to preserve the legacy of stars who carried the Pharaohs’ jersey with pride and inspired generations.
Dr. Mustafa Azzam, Executive Director of the association, welcomed the daughter and grandson of the late Abdel Karim Saqr, one of Egypt’s most iconic footballers, as they donated valuable belongings of the former national hero. The gesture marked one of the first contributions to what will become a living archive of Egyptian football.
Azzam also called on the families of other Egyptian greats to share treasured items that capture the spirit of their loved ones and help tell the story of the country’s journey in the game.
Abdel Karim Saqr remains a symbol of talent and dedication. He played in the 1936 Berlin and 1948 London Olympic Games and still holds the record as the youngest player to score for Egypt.
