Egyptian Football Association announces Super Cup sanctions
The Egyptian Football Association has officially revealed disciplinary measures following incidents during the recent Egyptian Super Cup tournament in the UAE.
After reviewing referee and observer reports, the association sanctioned teams and individuals to uphold fair play and maintain Egyptian football’s image.
Zamalek and Al Ahly faced fines due to repeated offensive chants from their fans, Zamalek received a total of 200,000 Egyptian pounds for two incidents, while Al Ahly was fined 100,000 pounds for crowd misconduct. The association warned that any recurrence would result in harsher penalties, stressing the need for fan support without derogatory behavior.
Player suspensions included a 50,000-pound fine each for Ahmed Mostafa Zizo of Al Ahly and Juan Alvina Bezeira of Zamalek following protocol breaches during trophy ceremonies. Both clubs had exchanged formal protests regarding these actions.
In addition, Pyramids FC coach Krunoslav Jurcic was suspended for one match and fined 10,000 pounds for excessive dissent towards officials. The Association emphasized its commitment to discipline, urging fans, players, and staff to maintain sportsmanship, especially in international settings where Egypt’s reputation is on display.
