Egyptian FA pushes FIFA for clarity on Pyramids player availability
The Egyptian Football Association has stepped in to protect the national team’s interests by officially addressing FIFA about a growing scheduling conflict involving Pyramids FC.
Ahmed Hassan, manager of Egypt’s Arab Cup squad, revealed that a letter will be sent to FIFA to highlight the problem. The Arab Cup is set to run in Qatar from December 1 to 18, with Helmy Toulan guiding a second-string team, but the dates directly overlap with Pyramids’ campaign in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.
Hassan shared the concerns on television, stressing how the clash could hurt Egypt’s squad. He said, “The two tournaments will be held at the same time and under FIFA supervision. Pyramids will play the semi-final match on December 13, and if they qualify, they will play the final on the 17th of the same month, which will deprive the national team of any Pyramids players.”
The national side depends on key Pyramids names such as Ahmed El-Shenawy, Ahmed Sami, and Marawan Hamdy. Meanwhile, Pyramids continue their strong run after victories over Auckland City and Al-Ahly and are preparing for Rwanda in CAF Champions League action.
