The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) is weighing up new options to stage the Egyptian Super Cup after receiving an apology from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, which confirmed it will not host the next edition.
With the original plans scrapped, EFA officials are now actively considering fresh proposals for hosting the tournament. Sources confirm that if no suitable international offers come in, one of Egypt’s top tourist cities could step in to stage the event.
According to Kooora, the EFA is open to taking the tournament abroad should an appealing offer arrive. Hany Abou Rida, president of the EFA, has already received informal expressions of interest, especially from Kuwait, where football authorities have shown early enthusiasm.
The new venue decision is expected in the coming weeks, and will likely follow the national team’s scheduled training camp in November.
This year’s Egyptian Super Cup will feature league champions Al Ahly, Egypt Cup winners Zamalek, Egyptian Capital Cup holders Ceramica Cleopatra, and a fourth team selected by the event’s main sponsor.
