Egyptian FA gives update on Hassan Shehata after health scare
The Egyptian Football Association has moved to calm growing concern over the health of national football icon Hassan Shehata following reports of a recent health scare.
The former Egypt coach, widely known as “The Teacher,” underwent emergency stomach surgery after suffering from jaundice in recent hours. According to those close to him, the procedure was delicate but necessary.
In an official statement released Tuesday, the EFA confirmed that Shehata’s condition is now stable. The surgery was successful, and he has been discharged from the hospital to continue recovery at home.
The news sparked an outpouring of support across Egypt’s football community. Both Al-Ahly and Zamalek SC issued messages wishing him well. Zamalek president Hussein Labib personally visited Shehata in hospital, offering encouragement and solidarity.
Shehata remains one of Egyptian football’s most respected names, having led the national team to a historic treble of Africa Cup of Nations titles in 2006, 2008, and 2010. His contributions to Zamalek SC as a player and Egypt as a coach remain unmatched.
