Egyptian defender Omar Fayed set to join Frosinone from Fenerbahce

Italian club Frosinone have reached an agreement with Turkish giants Fenerbahce for the transfer of highly-rated Egyptian defender Omar Fayed.

The Serie B outfit have moved to strengthen their defensive options ahead of the new season and have identified the young Egyptian as a player capable of adding quality and depth to their backline.

According to reports, Fenerbahce have agreed to sell Fayed to Frosinone, with the defender expected to travel to Italy on Thursday to undergo his medical examinations before completing the move.

The transfer will see the Egyptian leave Fenerbahce on a permanent basis after failing to establish himself as a regular first-team player at the Turkish club. Fenerbahce will receive an initial fee of around €500,000 for Fayed.

However, the total value of the transfer could increase through performance-related bonuses linked to the number of appearances the Egyptian defender makes for his new club.

Fayed is also expected to sign a four-year contract with Frosinone, committing his future to the Italian side until 2030.

The agreement between Fenerbahce and Frosinone reportedly does not include a sell-on clause, meaning the Turkish club will not be entitled to a percentage of any future transfer fee should Fayed leave the Italian side.

The move represents an important step in the career of the young defender, who is regarded as one of the promising talents in Egyptian football.

Fayed will now look to establish himself in Italy and gain regular first-team football, with the move potentially providing him with the platform to further develop his game.

His performances at club level could also keep him in contention for the Egyptian national team, with Pharaohs head coach Hossam Hassan monitoring the country’s emerging talents.

Fayed could therefore be hoping to impress in Italy and force his way into Hassan’s plans as Egypt prepares for the next stage of its international programme following its run to the round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
