Egyptian coach El Badry makes history as Al Ahli Tripoli smash 41-game unbeaten record in Libya
Egyptian tactician Hossam El Badry has etched his name into Libyan football history after guiding Al Ahli Tripoli to a record-breaking unbeaten run in the Libyan Premier League.
Al Ahli Tripoli dismantled Al-Malab Al-Libi 3-0 in their Round 12 Group A clash to register their 42nd consecutive league match without defeat — surpassing the long-standing record of 41 games set by Al-Wahda SC back in 1992.
The historic victory not only secured three crucial points but also cemented El Badry’s side as the new benchmark of consistency in Libyan top-flight football.
Goals from Azzo Al-Maryami, Hamdou Al-Houni, and Pablo Al-Sabbagh ensured a comfortable evening for the league leaders, who now sit firmly at the summit of Group A with 32 points. In contrast, Al-Malab remain sixth with 13 points after suffering the heavy defeat.
Speaking via the club’s official Facebook account, El Badry paid tribute to everyone connected with the team.
“I congratulate the players, the board of directors and the fans of Al-Ahli Tripoli on reaching this historic number,” he said.
“This achievement will remain etched in all our history. It came after a wonderful effort from everyone, and I dedicate it to the great fans of the club.”
The milestone adds another remarkable chapter to El Badry’s tenure at the club. Last season, the experienced coach was named the best coach in the Libyan league after steering Al Ahli Tripoli to a sensational domestic treble — lifting the league title, the national cup, and the super cup.
With momentum firmly on their side and history already made, Al Ahli Tripoli now look poised to extend their dominance as they chase further silverware this season.
