Tharwat Soueilm, a member of the Professional Clubs Association, has voiced his dissatisfaction with the tenure of Portuguese referee Vitor Pereira as the head of the referees committee, stating that it did not yield the desired improvements in Egyptian refereeing standards.
Speaking on the “El Primo” program broadcasted on “Ten” satellite channel, Soueilm remarked, “The experiment with foreign leadership in the referees committee, in general, did not yield the desired results.”
He continued, emphasizing the importance of local expertise, “The Football Association is the rightful guardian of Egyptian football, and it is preferable for the head of the referees committee to be Egyptian, knowledgeable about every aspect of Egyptian football, large and small.”
Concluding his remarks, Soueilm praised the neutrality and transparency of Amer Hussein, the head of the competitions committee, stating, “Amer Hussein operates with neutrality and transparency towards all clubs.”
