Egyptian winger Mahmoud Trezeguet is reportedly set for a return to Al Ahly SC, as the club looks to bolster its squad ahead of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Following the loan signing of midfielder Hamdi Fathi, Al Ahly is targeting two former players—Trezeguet, currently at Al Rayyan in Qatar, and Mohamed Abdelmonem, who plays for OGC Nice in Ligue 1. Both players previously represented the Egyptian club and are seen as key pieces to strengthen the team’s ambitions on the global stage.
Trezeguet, a 30-year-old left winger, has been thriving in Qatar but could make a return to his former club. Valued at €7.5 million, he is under contract with Al Rayyan until June 2025, following a loan move from Trabzonspor last summer. While questions linger about Al Rayyan’s willingness to release him mid-season, discussions reportedly include a possible loan agreement or even a permanent transfer.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Abdelmonem, a centre-back valued at €4 million, has struggled for playing time at OGC Nice and could be open to returning to Egypt. The 25-year-old defender is under contract with the French side until 2028 but may seek a move to regain regular action.
Al Ahly’s focus on reintegrating these two players signals its determination to assemble a formidable squad capable of excelling both domestically and internationally. Fans eagerly await confirmation of these potential moves as the January transfer window approaches.
