Zamalek SC has issued a formal statement denying any involvement in the wave of rumours surrounding the current dispute with winger Ahmed Sayed Zizo, distancing the club from speculation that has circulated in recent days.
In a message released through its official communication channels, the Cairo-based club addressed the growing media frenzy over the player’s situation.
Zamalek stressed that only information shared through its verified social media platforms or official media centre should be considered accurate.
“Due to the widespread media coverage and news regarding Zamalek’s relationship with its current player, Ahmed Mostafa Mohamed Sayed ‘Zizo,’ and the measures and decisions taken in this regard, Zamalek Club declares that it is not responsible for the news circulating on this subject, except for those officially published by the Club through its official platforms on social media and through its media center only,” the club’s statement read.
The tension between Zizo and Zamalek has been the subject of intense public interest, particularly following reports that the player may have signed a deal with fierce rivals Al Ahly SC.
The controversy escalated further when Zizo failed to appear for a disciplinary hearing scheduled by the club and subsequently missed several training sessions under head coach José Peseiro.
This latest development comes amid increasing scrutiny over Zizo’s future and the club’s internal dynamics.
Despite his absence from recent team activities, the Egyptian international has not made any public comment regarding the allegations or his reported move, leaving room for continued speculation.
Zamalek’s firm denial of any role in fuelling the rumours signals an attempt to regain control of the narrative, amid what the club views as unverified and potentially damaging reports.
By reaffirming its commitment to transparent communication only through official outlets, the club appears determined to contain the situation and avoid further internal disruption.
Zizo, one of Zamalek’s most prominent talents in recent seasons, remains under contract with the club.
However, his future at the White Knights now appears uncertain, as disciplinary and contractual questions remain unanswered.
With no formal response yet from the player himself, all eyes remain on the next move in a saga that continues to grip Egyptian football.
