EGYPT: ZAMALEK FINED FOR ALLOWING SUPPORTERS INTO STADIUM

Zamalek has been fined 30,000 Egyptian pounds for allowing its supporters to attend the match against Ismaili last Friday. The fine comes as a result of new rules implemented by the Egyptian Ministry of Security and the football federation, following the tragedy of Port Said in February 2012.

The regulations now only permit members of various club administrations to attend matches in the stands. The Port Said tragedy, which resulted in over 70 deaths during a match between Al Masry and Al Ahly, led to significant changes in the security measures for football matches in Egypt.

The 2011-2012 season was canceled as a result of the incident, and the resumption of football activities only began in February of the following year. The new measures are aimed at ensuring the safety of spectators and preventing any potential incidents during matches.

Exceptions to the restriction on spectators include certain qualifying matches of the national team, the Pharaons. However, these exceptions are limited, and the overall approach reflects a heightened emphasis on security and crowd control in Egyptian football.
