Egypt youth team begin Switzerland Friendship Tournament against South Korea

Egypt’s youth national team will begin their campaign at the International Friendship Tournament in Switzerland against South Korea on Thursday.

The tournament is being held from 24 September until 3 October, with Egypt’s opening match scheduled for 12:30pm. The game will be broadcast on On Max, with Ayman Al-Kashef providing commentary.

The Egypt squad arrived in Switzerland after a five-hour flight as they continue preparations for the competition. The tournament forms part of the team’s programme ahead of their participation in the World Cup in November.

Egypt will play four matches during the event. Their opponents include South Korea, England and Colombia, before they face another side in the final stage of the tournament.

The 22-player squad selected for the competition is:

Goalkeepers: Malek Amr, Mohamed Obeid and Abdel Aziz Mahmoud.

Defenders: Mohamed El-Sayed, Adel Alaa, Adam Youssef, Amir Hassan, Mohamed Sabry and Abdullah Amr.

Midfielders: Ahmed Bashir, Omar Abdel Rahim, Mohanad Magdy, Seif Karim, Mohamed Gamal, Youssef Abdullah, Ziad Saudi, Daniel Tamer, Ahmed Safwat and Adham Haseeb.

Forwards: Khaled Mokhtar, Amir Abu El-Ezz and Khaled Mahmoud.

Following the tournament in Switzerland, Egypt will take part in the Gulf Under-17 Championship, which is scheduled to be held in the middle of October.

That competition is intended to provide further preparation and strong competitive experience before the World Cup. Egypt are due to return to Cairo on 4 October, after completing their four matches in Switzerland against South Korea, England and Colombia, as well as the fixture in the final stage.

Hussein Abdel Latif is the head coach of the youth national team, while Ayman Hafez serves as administrative director.

The delegation is headed by Waleed Darwish, a member of the Egyptian Football Association board and the general supervisor of the team.
