The Egyptian football authorities have announced that the national league will resume on February 1, 2013. Al Amri Farouk, the Minister of Sports, stated that the Ministry of the Interior has ensured the security of the league, allowing for the competition to restart. The decision comes after a joint meeting between Farouk and Gamal Allam, the president of the Egyptian Football Federation. The league will commence from the 8th day, with rescheduled fixtures for the previous days. Military stadiums will be used for hosting league matches, and the championship has been on hold since February 2012 after the tragic events in Port Said. The two groups in the league are Ahly, ENPPI, Harras El-Hodoud, Ghazl El-Mahalla, Beni Suef Telephones, Wadi Degla, Maqassa, Smouha, and Gouna.
