Egypt Under-17s travel to Switzerland for International Friendship Tournament

Egypt’s Under-17 squad, made up of players born in 2009, have left Cairo for Switzerland to take part in the International Friendship Tournament as part of their preparations for the World Cup in November.

The delegation departed Cairo International Airport on Tuesday morning, with Hussein Abdel Latif in charge of the team.

Egypt completed its training camp before travelling. The camp began on 7 September at the National Teams Centre, where the squad carried out its final preparations for the tournament.

The team will play four matches in Switzerland. Their opponents in the competition include South Korea, England and Colombia, with a fourth fixture to be played during the final stage.

Egypt’s 22-man squad is:

Goalkeepers: Malek Amr, Mohamed Obaid, Abdel Aziz Mahmoud.

Defenders: Mohamed El-Sayed, Adel Alaa, Adam Youssef, Amir Hassan, Mohamed Sabry, Abdullah Amr.

Midfielders: Ahmed Bashir, Omar Abdel Rahim, Mohannad Magdy, Seif Karim, Mohamed Gamal, Youssef Abdullah, Ziad Saudi, Daniel Tamer, Ahmed Safwat, Adham Haseeb.

Forwards: Khaled Mokhtar, Amir Aboul-Ezz, Khaled Mahmoud.

Following the International Friendship Tournament in Switzerland, Egypt will compete in the Gulf Under-17 Cup, scheduled to take place in the middle of October.

The two tournaments form part of the national team’s preparation programme ahead of the World Cup and are intended to provide the players with strong competitive experience before the global finals.

Egypt are due to return to Cairo on 4 October after completing their four matches in Switzerland against South Korea, England and Colombia, as well as the fixture in the final stage.

Hussein Abdel Latif is the head coach, with Ayman Hafez serving as administrative director.

The delegation is headed by Walid Darwish, a member of the Egyptian Football Association board and the general supervisor of the team.
