The Egypt U-23 national team is set to conclude its training sessions today, Monday, in preparation for a challenging encounter against the Saudi Arabian counterpart scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, as part of the West Asia friendly tournament.
In the tournament’s third-place playoff match, Egypt’s U-23 squad will face off against Saudi Arabia at the Prince Abdullah bin Jalawi Stadium in Al-Hasa, with aspirations of securing victory in their final outing.
Participating in the West Asia friendly tournament serves as intensive preparation for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics.
In the semi-final of the West Asia U-23 Cup, Egypt’s U-23 team suffered a loss against Australia in a penalty shootout, concluding regular time with a 1-1 draw.
However, they redeemed themselves with a crucial 1-0 victory over the United Arab Emirates in another fixture held in Saudi Arabia.
Egypt’s U-23 team finds itself in Group C alongside Spain, Egypt, the Dominican Republic, and the runners-up of the AFC U-23 Asian Cup.
Under the guidance of Brazilian coach Rogério Micale, the Egyptian U-23 team comprises 23 players selected to represent the nation in the West Asia tournament in Saudi Arabia.
