Egypt U-20 women march forward with victory over Equatorial Guinea
The Egyptian U-20 women’s national team showed resilience and passion as they booked their place in the third round of the African qualifiers for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Their convincing 3-0 victory over Equatorial Guinea at the auxiliary ground of the 30th of June Stadium brought smiles and hope to fans who had gathered in anticipation.
Habiba Essam was the star of the night, stamping her authority on the game from the start. She opened the scoring in the 13th minute and doubled Egypt’s lead in the 37th. In added time, Habiba completed her hat trick with a composed finish that sealed the qualification.
This comeback was especially sweet for Egypt, who had lost the first leg 1-0 in Malabo. The players approached the return leg with determination, and their spirit carried them through.
The team will now face the winner of the Guinea versus Benin clash in the next stage, with eyes firmly set on one of Africa’s four slots for the World Cup in Poland next year.
